THE STORY BEHIND THIS PAINTING BY MAXINE GRAY

When Stacy was younger he went to the jetties in Port Aransas, Tx  to do some skin diving with his Dad and his brothers.  One of his brothers brought along a friend who could not swim very well.  They journeyed to the end of the jetties and enjoyed most of the day swimming and skin diving. Every one was warned to stay away from the end of the jetties on the channel side because the currents would swirl outwards toward the sea like a fast flowing river.  Stacy noticed his brother's friend was swimming on the channel side and before his brother's friend knew it he was caught in the swirling currents and was being swept out to sea like a cork that had lost its line to shore and was losing its buoyancy while thrashing about.  He was crying out for help.  The only way to get to him was to go into the currents and catch up to him and try to angle back toward the jetties.  Stacy grabbed his gear and started swimming and caught up to him and was able to help him back to the jetties,  but the only way to get out of the water to safety was to swim to where the waves were crashing onto the rocks.  With God's grace along with some cuts and bruises Stacy and his brother's friend made it to the solid rocks of the jetties.   Later in life the Lord used this illustration to remind Stacy of the need we have for others to share Christ's love.  The Lord showed him that many people in life are perishing and don't even know the Lord Jesus.  Many are being swept out to sea because of the swirling tides of evil that attempt to destroy us. Many people may have their vessels broken and torn by the storms of life.  Many are young and can't swim very well and can get caught in fast moving currents.  Lighthouses has been a symbol of a beacon that shines in the darkness to help guide others away from danger. In the picture the Lighthouse light forms a cross.  When we come to Jesus we meet Him at Calvary.  The servant that is helping the other person out of the water works for the Master of the Lighthouse.  The only way the servant can truly help the person in need is to have his feet standing on the "Rock"(Jesus).
